The mighty Brisbane Broncos have gone down narrowly to the rejuvenated Gold Coast Titans at Burleigh Park overnight. The Broncos were 18-0 nil down after only 29 minutes but kept the titans scoreless in the second half only to fall just short with their comeback.
"I was concerned we gave 18 points away in the first 20 minutes," said Broncos' coach Anthony Griffin.
"But the encouraging thing is we ground out to the game and bombed a couple of tries that could have been the difference.
"If we score three tries in an NRL game it should be enough to win."
A strong crowd of 7000 fans packed the cosy Burleigh Park stands in what was a good quality trial game.
The Boncos will take on arch rivals the Cowboys in their final hit out before the NRL kicks off on the 1st March.
In other news, the Tigers have defeated the Eels and the Knights and Penrith have battled out a draw.
M Minchiello 2, J Rankin tries; S Prince 3 goals) defeated BRISBANE BRONCOS 16 (G Beale, A Glenn, D Copley tries; P Wallace, B Hunt goals) at Pizzey Park, Miami.
